24 yr old entry level professional with plenty of student loan debt. I aim to save money every way I can day-to-day, while still trying to live like a 24 yr old by sometimes going out and visiting friends across the country a couple times per year.
Financial goals include:
-Keep credit balance low (0%apr freedom card for another yr) to continue to grow credit score in order to get even better rewards card, auto insurance rates, etc.
-$5k emergency fund by the end of the year. Have about $2-3k now.
-6% 401k contributions from August-retirement (when I get my match)
-Open Ally high-yield savings when EF is +$5k
-Open ROTH IRA when I have $2500+ in the EF, and can afford to contribute at least 4% salary in order to be saving 10% total for retirement.
-Continue to grow Ally account, savings for mortgage. House purchase is probably 10 yrs away.
I still haven't decided if and when I will want to aggressively attack my $65k worth of SL debt. By August I'll be paying about a minimum of $450/month for 15 or 20 yrs. If I live like I make $15k less per year I could probably contribute $1000-$1200 per month in total.
